A romantic hotel is accommodation for a personal or romantic escape. This may be a themed room, a historic hotel or a distinctive suite. Sauna and whirlpool are not required. A private spa is a wellness area used separately for an agreed period. Depending on the offer, this may be a sauna, a whirlpool or a complete suite. The details of the individual unit must state whether both are included in the same booking.

Themed room or your own wellness area?

A canopy bed, a freestanding bathtub, distinctive decor or a historic building may be what matters. Here, romantic hotel describes a search intention, not an official hotel classification. Each property keeps its actual name. A hotel with a sauna does not automatically have saunas in its rooms. A shared wellness area is used with other guests. Your own sauna belongs to the booked unit or is expressly reserved for you. Check the precise scope of use, not just the word wellness. Also check whether sauna and whirlpool are available throughout your stay and which features actually belong to your suite.

Correctly distinguish between sauna, whirlpool and pool

A whirlpool is a pool with bubbling water. It is not evidence of a swimming pool, even though both can look spacious in photos. Likewise, a large bathtub does not automatically mean a whirlpool. You should confirm the daily window, arrival times and specific validity before making a commitment.

A private sauna is documented for 46 of the 102 categories, approximately 45 %. A private whirlpool is documented for 48 of 102 categories, approximately 47 %. Both features belong to the same unit in 39 categories. These shares describe only our selected rooms and separately bookable spa spaces, not all hotels in Germany. Unconfirmed features are not counted as present; missing evidence does not establish that a feature is absent.
